In contrast to the other main type of excavation, surface mining, sub-surface mining requires equipment and/or manpower to operate under the surface of the earth.

Atlas Copco has received an order from the Mexican mining group Peñoles. Valued at about USD 67 million, it is one of the largest underground mining equipment contracts ever for Atlas Copco and the company’s second large order in Mexico this year.
