Backhoe Loaders
Machines that are equipped with work equipment at the front end for excavating and loading and another at the rear end for transport. With this type of machines, earth and sand produced in digging a ditch are loaded at a time later on. They are a very convenient and helpful sort, as a single machine plays double roles simultaneously. During the work, a support called an outrigger extends and ensures the machine’s stability.

» JCB launches powerful new machines

UK-based manufacturer JCB has showcased a range of machines at the CTT/Conexpo show in Moscow, Russia, including new launches that specifically target the Russia/CIS market as well as developing countries in the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. The company unveiled its most powerful backhoe loader to date - the all-wheel steer 5CX - which is powered by a 120hp (88kW) Tier 2 JCB Dieselmax engine and boasts a 1.3mē shovel as standard. JCB's TorqueLock transmissions - which is fitted as standard - is said to produce fuel consumption savings of up to 25% compared to standard transmissions. Tim Burnhope, JCB's chief innovation and growth officer, said, "The 5CX has been designed as a flagship model for those markets that demand ultimate digging and loading performance.

In support of the population that was severely impacted by the earthquake in the Emilia region of Italy, Fiat Industrial has launched a series of special interventions to help those communities and companies in difficulty. In particular, under the coordination of the Italian Civil Protection Department, CNH and Iveco have offered the Italian Civil Protection Department an emergency-rescue unit consisting of construction machinery, mobile service vans, parts, mechanics and operators. The emergency-rescue unit is currently operating autonomously and comprises 12 earth moving machines, including light (telehandlers, mini excavators, skid steer loaders and backhoe loaders) and heavy (excavators, wheel loaders) equipment from the New Holland brands, 5 Iveco mobile service vans and Iveco trucks for transporting rubble, as well as 20 operators and mechanics, including personnel from CNH and its dealer network. Furthermore, to strengthen its commitment within the three companies of the Group, Fiat Industrial has initiated a fundraising effort among employees, which will contribute directly to the restoration of sites and houses in the communities affected by the earthquake.

Hidromek has partnered with John Deere and ZF to develop a new drivetrain for its backhoe loaders. The new system is in place on the HMK 102B, which goes into production this month. Hidromek says the drivetrain offers 5% efficiency gains compared to its previous backhoe loader.
